counseling group

Students experiencing a crisis that requires immediate attention may speak with a counselor at any time 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. During regular business hours, students may call the Center for Mental Health Care & Resources at 404-894-2575 or walk-in to our office in Suite 238 of Smithgall Student Services. After business hours, please call 404-894-2575 and select the option to speak to the after-hours counselor.

What is a Crisis?

  • Suicidal or homicidal thoughts or impulses
  • Engaging in self-harming behaviors
  • Experienced a sexual or physical assault
  • Hearing voices (hallucinations) or feel like you are losing touch with reality
  • Inability to provide for your own food, clothing, or shelter for multiple days

If none of these apply but you still believe that you are experiencing a crisis, please let the front desk know and you can still be seen that day. However, if your situation is upsetting, but not a crisis, you can schedule a regular counseling appointment and be seen at the next available time.

Students who are experiencing an immediate life-threatening emergency on campus, call the Georgia Tech Campus Police at 404-894-2500. If off campus, please immediately call 911.
